I\'ve got a RE Amemeya steering colum mounted boost guage on my FD, but I\'m confused with the measurments!

PSI.... Yes, understand no problems
Bar.... I can handle that (Just)

But my guage has got: Kg-cm, I think, definatly Kg though. What is this equivelant to in psi, because mine pulls 1.0 Kg on the guage, and I\'m walking away from 300bhp Scoobys & GT4\'s :rollin !! Is my beast boosting more than standard or are Scoobys & GT4\'s not that quick :wave ?!

Cheers guys,
Jono

there is a converter thing out there on the world wide web, but kg-cm is almost identically the same as bar! so if you are seeing 1.0 that is quite a bit over standard :cool Do you have any pictures? as that is the gauge i was thinking about purchasing :yes

Oh..... That could be the reason why scoobys & GT4\'s only see the back end of my motor then :rollin wthe the ocaisional :flamed out of the back end!!! I was told that the car was all standard apart from the induction & exhaust!! Oh well: run it til something falls off is my moto, if it don\'t fall off, you cant fix it!!!
When the guage hits 1 you do setrainly get pined to the seat 2nd, 3rd & 4th
sweet for overtaking :3gears-rh !!

I haven\'t got a pic of it at the moment but give me a few hours and I\'ll post one up for you,

Cheers,
Jono

Here is the Re boost guage I\'m running:
The needle goes all the way to the red line!!

you need a duster mate!  :p

1 bar is too much boost if on standard ecu and fuelling i suggest a apexi asap then u shd be pretty safe

nikp

1 kg/ cm^2 is 1 bar!

1 bar represent 1000mm of mercury on a barometer, but it equates to 1 kg / cm ^ 2 cos it\'s all metric! tada!

(And therefore too much boost on a standard ecu!)

Jono FD3

APARANTLY its standard, but there have been alot of mods done to the car when it was in japan, but they have been taken off befor I bought it!!
evidance of extra bits which have been removed: pod for clocks on A Pillar, Full length (doesnt mean much I know)
Fixing brackets with nothing in them, dotted around the car
Suspention,
Sevear suspention geometry: stuck to the road like S*#T to a blanket but killed tyres!!

so it might have an uprated / programed ECU I just don\'t know.....
Anyway of checking & where is the ECU placed?

Cheers guys

This is what i suspect i have! I have an extremely lively rear end (Ooh er! :p). Wanders very easily, even in the dry without any warning!

Jono FD3

I didn\'t have that problem....
Couldn\'t get mine to step!! it was well planted on all 4!

rx7veilside

get the car checked by ur nearest rx7 specialist not just a mazda garage otherwise u might get a nasty surprise before long

Jono FD3

That\'s gona be about 300+miles away!!!
The engine is aproching the informas 60000!
Is there any way of seeing what ECU the car is running without traveling to the oppasit side of the country?
I\'m in south west wales (any further and you\'ll get wet feet)

Sounds like you running a mid pipe, same as me.   Boost spiked at about 1.1 bar after I fitted it!  You should be running at 0.7 bar stock.
I \'m pretty sure 14.5 psi = 1bar   and   14.2 psi = 1kg/cm2
So 1 on your gauge would be just under 1bar.

Trevrx

ECU is passenger side footwell, remove far left panel and there it is.  Take the cover off to see if it\'s got a daughter board.

Have you got a boost controller?  I would guess yes or you would be spiking even higher on the turbo transition.  Only way I could control my spike was fitting an HKS EVC,  now running at just over 0.8bar , about 12psi.
Have you read stuff about air fuel ratios and extra boost?  Basically you\'re running lean at 1bar on stock ECU,  most ppl say 0.8 bar is too lean.

Cheers for the info Trev, I\'ll be checking my ECU later!!
as for the other bits....... No, don\'t have them!! still got the cat, although the inturnals may have been punched out by the previous owner :chat !!
Wast gate side of things look prety stock to me, although I\'ll probably be proven wrong later when I start checking!!

Cheers for all your help and advice guys, you\'ve sorted me out once again!!
 :cheers
