HI, i looked at an \'93 rx7 recently for sale, its apparently had the engine rebuilt sep\'04 in the uk but the guy has lost the receipt, however REworx are going to try and get me a copy tomorrow.

When i got to see the car it was already running, it seemed to drive fine, but when the bonnet was opened i could hear a sound i didnt hear on other rx7\'s ive seen.

It sounded like someone jingling change/coins in their hand, and seemed to be coming from the alternator, or that area.

I put my ear to the top of the enigine and could hear a slight \'wurring\' sound, is that normal.

Thats 2 different noises, the jungling was quite loud where as the wurring was faint and my ear was just above the manifold.

What could be the explaination ? and could the answer be expensive to fix?

many thanks,

andrew

Im no expert Andy mate, but when i first bought my car it used to make a jingling noise, although it didnt make it at idle or on throttle, just when i let my foot off the gas!!! I thought that it must have been something loose!?! However a few weeks later i found out that it was the engine detonating  which cost a few quid in the end to get it rebuilt after it smashed itself to bits. I dont mean to worry you mate but this is my experience of a jingle, im sure someone will shed some better light on the subject, but i will say that most things on these cars seem to be expensive to fix, as i have and others to have found out, if you are unsure get an expert to check over it :yes  goodluck mate, let us know how you get on :3gears-lh
