Hi,
I\'m considering buying a RX-7 and just can\'t seem to find any specs on the cars. Maybe I\'m just useless??? What I wanted to know was, did they make a non turbo version of the 3rd gen? and if so, is it the same engine as the turboed ones? or was it strengthened to withstand the extra power?

Its just that it would be cheaper on the insurance to buy a non turbo now and then install one once i turn 25, in about 15 months. Otherwise can anybody advise me of any good insurance companies who specialise in imported rx7s or jap cars.

Thanx alot. Hoping to fully join once if i can afford to get one.

hello and welcome
they dont do a non turbo 3rd gen,  there is an insurance thread on here somewhere,  not sure if you have to be member through,  its well worth joining and you will find some good examples on here for sale.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

i think they done a 2.4 n/a engine but dont quote me on that

Nope, all 3rd gen RX-7\'s leaving the factory had the 1308cc 13B-REW twin turbo motor.

The 2.4 that they quoted on was the FC (2nd Gen) car. A lot of insurane companies dont properly list the 3rd Gen.

Think this might be down to the lack of UK sales.

How much are you hoping to save on instrance - a turbo convirsion will cost a few K.  The FC (second gen RX-7) had a 6 port N/A EGI 13b engine and another with a 4 port 13b single turbo(later I believe was updated to the 13b-rew?) turbo engine.  The FD (third gen RX-7) was only twin tubby 13b-rew as standard.
