Just driving back from warrington to a place where i have got an interview next week and the engine has just blown.

So all i can say is it is the end of my rex ownership gonna get it rebuilt and then sell it. Just cant be bothered with the hassle anymore the car has had problems since day 1. I get the clutch sorted then it needs tires then it needs suspension now this i cant handle it anymore.

I love the car be cant justify spending all my money on it all the time to keep getting problems.

So if anyone is interested in it.... it is a uk FD i will post some pics for when it is rebuilt im just gonna sell it straight away.

just gotta think wot my next car will be now thats the only thing keepin me goin.

sorry to hear about the engine, it a bummer.
What cars do we out there though that are 10-12 yrs old that dont need new tyres, or a clutch, suspension etc, after all that time. Please I want one.

Valid point gary.

I\'ve just had to sort mine out, after 30 months and around 20k miles the engine blew.
As luck would have it bought a complete block from Brian so was a lot cheaper than a rebuild.

I would have accepted the cost of a rebuild, not happily but up to now its only cost me three services. What other car of this type could be so economical?

I did buy the newest car I could afford, with the lowest mileage. S reg 32k miles.

Doesn\'t help ppl experiencing problems but I think you have expect and budget for the worst scenario before going down [or should that be round] the rotary road.

I bought a Jeep a year ago and that has cost me more, with more hastle than the RX

John
I started with nothing and I have most of it left

Where did you get it from???? Would you think about selling with the car as it is  before the rebuild i mean? If so email me at blitz_scooby@hotmail.com

duff

i understand about the tires n clutch but the list seems to just get bigger and bigger all the time for things that need sorting i have just had enough every car needs tires n clutchs but it seems as soon as i get ahead something knocks me back again and i have just lost faith this time.

I dont know about selling it without a rebuild because i think i will get more for it with a rebuild it depends how much you are talking McCarthy.

you can email me at muffin29@msn.com if you want

I do appreciate it is bloody frustrating. Good luck at whatever you decide to do with her.

Cheers mate i love the car i have never driven anything better but i think it is time for a change maybe an evo 7 just looking at them now so just gonna sort it out and sell it. Im hoping the rebuild wont be too major because i turned it off pretty much straight away cause i knew what had happened .... so fingers crossed

I no mate dont remind me just gonna cut short my losses and hope somebody will be looking for a UK FD anytime soon.

Col

sorry to hear about the engine,

I know how you feel my engine, suspension and wheels all went on me within the first 3 months of FD ownership!!

Look on the bright side mate, once the engine is rebuilt it should last you a long time and you will still own an FD with a fresh engine.

do not sell, keep it. Get the engine rebuit by one of the good garages that are on this forum.

just my little opinon KEEP THE CAR :)

duff

I know what you mean mate but i think its time for a change i love the car but it just frustrates me so much because if it aint one thing its another but then again you might say the same about other cars. Just gonna play it by ear and go from there

Carl

You will find that all of the high power Japanese cars have some form of reliabilty problem, especially when they are modified, the only difference is that the RX7 is so much cheaper to repair the engine than Evo\'s,Skyline\'s,Scoobie\'s etc if the engine lets go in a serious way.

I know how you are feeling matey, ive had my car nearly a year and it has never been right (or should that be rite?) i nearly gave up to last week Ive had boost problems, then the engine gave up now im back to the boost problems. But im just looking forward to the day when the car is 100 percent and i know that all the head aches and money spent!! will be worth it :3gears-lh, Its also true that these cars are cheaper to fix than other quick jap cars, just ask any skybus owner out there. Hope that you get it sorted fella, Regards Andy

cheers for the support boys. I know every car has reliability problems you be a fool to expect a car to be bullet proof but maybe i will feel better next week or when i find out the extent of the problem and the cost.

grinder

you might be lucky - as you shut it off ASAP you might have only sustained mild damage ( as apposed to both rotors and housings needing replacement )

keep us informed of what happens - im always on the look out of an FD is the price is "stu" friendly :)

Take care

Stu
