does anyone have the camber settings for a 92 fd it is standard suspension i am going to have it checked tomorrow and i am hoping it will sort out the handling problem.

Anyway what is happening when on track doing a left hand turn  the steering goes light until back on the straight bit but it is fine on right hand turns.

So far i have changed the shock on the passenger side (it was leaking), then checked the suspension bushes and the were ok except for the top ball joint which was replaced and still problem persists then i changed the steering rack not sorted it still so only suggestion left was to check the camber settings.

When i say the steering goes light it is only on track and under what i think very heavy load like cascades at oulton park craner curves donny if you want to shed some light feel free.

cheers for help

Have you checked the basics ? other than mechanical

hotstepper1973

i am not the most mechanically minded so only going off suggestions as would not really know where to start but when you say basics are you meaning tracking balancing etc..
if so i havent as yet but what i have tried is in first post.

hi oldone thanks for interest of topic though do you think you are coming to iom.

Get the car up so you can inspect every rubber, bush, linkage etc...then get the camber and toe alighnment done, only then if its not right you have to start scratching yer head..

Jon - just a quick one.  Can you please post up all your settings on the printout you got on the last alignment etc.

Also - does anyone have any details on the FD - does it have speed sensitive power steering?

I\'ll have a search around later on Jon.
Thanks,

The settings on the camber which was done yesterday was from 2 degree positive to 1 degree negitive which is as far as we could get it i know it would have been better at 1.5 degree this was at the front and the rear was 0.
But after that the problem still persisted it is as if i am beating the speed sensitive steering and only when i straighten back up it sorts out.

AAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH this car what else can it be

Anyway fingers crossed i am thinking there must be some way in which this speed sensitive steering is controlled.

Jon - if it was the Speed Sensitive Steering, it would in theory affect it turning the other way also I would have thought?

Hi guys....one question...did you do your tyre pressures before the test ?this has a massive influence on the readings......as your readings indicate.....with 0 deg on the rear (which is neutral) on cornouring(sp) and if you got neg on the front you will have oversteer to which ever way is the neg........on the front wheel drive race cars we set thm up with neg camber on the rear to encourage oversteer...on rear whell drive we want pos on front and neutral to pos on the back.......

hotstepper1973

yes oldone have checked the tyres are ok, i think the only left to check is the power steering it must be a fault on there.

cheers for your help

Hey bud...what was the Toe readings ?...you might have to much toe in on the right hand front wheel i.e.if the toe readings are equal on both sides then you should have equel feel turning left or right, however if the the one wheel is a little more negative the you will have a lightness on turn on the opposite wheel.....i.e.the one side turns more than the other...this could evn result in a bit of oversteer.......

hi all still yet to solve the steering out on left hand turns please could anyone try and help just to re-cap i have had tracking done camber settings done wheels balanced aswell as the other items mentioned in this thread.

Does anyone know if there is a bleed valve which controls the power steering and could this have any effect on left hand turns due to the fact that it functions on the left hand side.

Finally when i had the camber settings done we had that set up for the short track degrees if you know what i mean but this was set at 1.0 degree which i thought would sort it but it didn\'t.
Any help with this would be gratefully received.
