whats this in my UIM?

Hi, just received my UIM which i got off ebay and on inspection (BTW im polishing it) its got like suger type powder inside it.
 
Ive tryed mailing the guy who i bought it off and nothing.

Anybody got and ideas what it could be?

Clue. It\'ll have alot more in it when you file it down before you start pollishing!
its supprising how much fine swarf you can make when you prepare before
pollishing.

It could either be sitting in his garage for ages catching dust and rust, or may be he was running water injection system and bit of rust has build up.. :yes

the manifold will be covered in a very sticky oily substance and anything sticks to it,  could be ali dusct,  clean it properly with degreasant once you have cut all the crap out of it!

That looks like grit from sand/ bead blasting.
