When I left mine over the winter I gave the main pulley a couple of turns a week to keep the seals the stuff nice and free. I used a 19 mm socket. Be sure to turn it the correct way... Sunday afternoon job on the way back from the pub!!!

I had mine standing for about 3 months - did nothing to it, and it was fine. Didn\'t even turn the engine.

However, you don\'t really need to take the spark plugs out to allow turning the enigne easier, as at that slow speed the apex seals will not seal properly, and no compression of air will be being made - therefore the engine should be easy to turn over - you can grab one of the drive belts and turn it over, it\'s that easy!

still waitig grinder, they are having probs getting parts

Ah so that\'s why. I was always a bit concerned by how easily my engine would turn over by hand, but of course there\'s only the strength of the apex seal springs letting you build up any compression. I still need to compression test my engine tho.

Which way is the correct way? CW or ACW?

nikp

I am no expert at this point, but with these engines, i don\'t think it matters.

MillSpeed

Well the engine rotation is CW when looking from the front, so it\'d prob be best to rotate it CW, but like nikp says it probably doesn\'t matter.

I got mine started - after it had been sitting off road outside for 3-4 Years!
Ok it had been started 2 years ago too. What I was told was remove the EGI fuse to prevent flooding and turn it over a bit to get the oil up and about.

The only thing I had to do was charge the battery put new petrol in it as the stuff in it had went off. The tyres hadn\'t fared well either so its worth turning them every month or two and make sure they don\'t get flat.

So 2 months should not be a problem!

Changed the oil and its running like a sweetie now. :)
