Hi guys i have heard off so many people one saying i do need an SVA test and others saying i don\'t well i could think of no1 better than you guys to tell me.  So my car is a 1992 RX7.

Anyone know if it needs one???????

And what will it get tested on??

Thanks

Brett

Is it already UK registered? If so then it just needs an MOT. If its not yet registered it will be required to pass the test I think.  I\'m sure one of the Importers will post on here with the right answer. :)

SVA test is not required on vehicles over 10 years old, you will only have to satisfy an MOT tester.

i had to put my 95 rx through a SVA but my 93 just needed an mot and registering with the DVLA
There are performance cars and then there is the RX-7...........

12.3 second 1/4 mile, terminal speed of 122mph (1st ever drag run on a TO4R)

engine built by....... umm me! now powered by a T51 Kai......

It is a fresh import so i has not been registered in the UK as of yet

How did you get your 95 through the SVA mate? Was it easy? I presume you have to take it to a specialist for this kind of testing.

I did all the work on it my self, you need to convert the speedo from KMPH to MPH, mesh in the front grill (they run a small sphere around the car to ensure that you cant get in in any places). wire in a rear fog light, the switch must have a light on it. also restrict the size of the fuel tank neck ie so only a unleaded pump will fit.

last but not least make sure all tyres have the eu rating on them as well as the glass. to be honest its a nightmare thrying to get the info for the test. for example the wiring for the fog light must be tied every 10cm i think, if not this will be enough to fail the car.

Thats brilliant lads thanks how long do you have to wait for the documentation to come through after you have been to the DVLA and registered

Sounds like a proper nightmare mate.

Chris, IIRC it only took about a week for me to get my documents back with the new logbook.

Ok thanks guys heres a pic of my car when it accidently fell off the trailer on the way back from picking it up absolute fu***ng nightmare

Rx7Chris

Luckily the car had no major damage all that happened was a hole in the floor and it shunted my sill up ever so slightly but the recovery bloke that came to get the car off the railings hooked his fu***ng winch onto my ****ing bracket to the fuel tank and put a great big hole in it (asshole) but the funny thing is i got a letter the other day saying that (ATKINS) want money for me damaging the barrier (£600) cheeky isn\'t it.

petemillis

Nasty one. What you gonna do with it now?
If I were you I\'d right kick the arse of the person who loaded it onto the trailer and didn\'t strap it down properly. You\'re so lucky it fell off onto the hard shoulder and you only got a £600 bill for the railings. If it had fallen off the back or the other side and caused a fricking pile-up things would have been far worse.

In 5 years time this means that you can import 2000 reg FD\'s on an MOT alone!! I think there is a cut off point somewhere in 1995 (probably pre June when emissions regs where also drastically altered.) Before this you just need an MOT and after this you need the full SVA.
