Guys,

Just removed the cat on my car and replaced with decat pipe with silencer, wow does it sound different now, much more throaty !!!

Anyway I when I disconnected the temp sensor that plugged into the cat it is fitted to a metal bracket, so far its tucked under a bit of the shield. I heard that you can disconnect it in the car then pull it through and out from underneath.

Where is it connected in the car ? Under the drivers seat ?

Also what are the implications to removing the air pump, it seems to blow air into the cat, when this is gone the pump seems redundant. Is this so and will I need a different set of pulleys if I do wish to remove it, what are the implications of leaving it on the car with the pipe either blocked or left open? Also if I do remove it when I have to put the cat back on will I need to put the air pump back on ?

Sorry for all the queries...heck I\'m off to drive it again....love the noise !!

Give it a week or two when the back box has had a bit more flow through it. Sounds fantastic when it revs.

I may get flamed, but don\'t you need an aftermarket ecu to remove the air pump ?? (possibly wrong)

I removed mine to improve the pipe route on my fmic. I fitted the underdrive pulleys from dragon at the time. Not a massive job to do, hardest bit is removing the alternator pulley ! When it went into pips he removed a valve somewhere that controls the air   and can give better performance when the pump is removed.

Just try a search for "air pump" in the bar above, maybe alot more info on this topic than i can remember.

Hope that helps !!

oops, when I fitted my decat i pushed the sensor through the hole in the car. I got some blank gromits from maplin electronics that fit the hole pefectly. They are about 99p for 10 ! and silica it in for waterproofing !

Cheers for your help Shaunwil.

The temp sensor comes on a bracket at right angles to it and about an inch and a half long. Dont really want to try pushing this up the hole.

Does anyone else know where to disconnect it in the car?

Might just be a case of pushing or pulling the seat right back and looking for the plug, may be a flap for access. Other than that you may need to take the seat out.

g mogle how did you sort your temp sensor problem out in the end???

Cheers Scott, I fixed this but taking the drivers seat out and the metal RX7 sill, pulled the carpet up slightly and found there was a connector that connects to the temp sensor before it goes out and under the car. Therefore unclipped it, pulled the sensor lead through and then connected it back up in the car, tucked it under the carpet....job done.

I havent removed the air pump though mate, although its disconnected.

As for the Air Pump connections Andrew at Jimmys blocked this up (cant say how) so it wasnt a problem.

Hope that helps,
Gareth
