is it normal for flames to come from an exorst  changing from 1st 2nd and then a pop in 3rd  the car is an  93 type R   just had a rebuild   and is fully run in, im ashuming it    could be some sort of sensor problem  putting to much fule in to the car  and its just burning it off   but its a bit worrying  and im ashuming because  of this it will now not pass an imitions test ,also got worce   with a boost controler in so turned that off
thank you for any help  ps  sorry about spelling :D
pps  this does not happen when driving at normal speeds   just when you give it some for want of a better  turm :D

what mods does the car have and what ecu are u running..flames are the result of unburnt fuel entering the exhaust and then igniting with the heat..a properly mapped car will only occassionaly give a flamer on overrun..some people like flames but if mapped right u wont get them depends if u like burning ur bumper and using even more fuel

well, I overtook a mate coming back rfom the cinema last night and he immidiately phoned me to let me know I had a bonfire coming from my exhaust  but I do have a flamer kit :D (fitted by previous owner before I get any bad feedback on that ;) )

Flamage when pressing on is more the norm for these cars.  You\'re probably de-catted though to get visible flames.  Even the stock ECU on de-cat will flame under the right circumstances.  It\'s more about the velocity of the exhaust gasses getting the burning fuel to a visible point at high rpm than it being way too rich.

Unless it were happening on normal cruising then I wouldn\'t worry about it.

The race-prepped FD racing in Belcar at Brands on Sunday was flaming just for fun - any and every opportunity!

thanks  for all your help ,put my mind at ease ,She does not have many mods  just a feed induction kit and hks boost controler running on stock ecu and a ksp enginering  zorst.

Gosh, last time I said something similar on this forum, I was told there is something wrong if it flames. Nearly all my Rex\'s have backfired.

it doesnt mean something is wrong it just means it is overfuelling a properly mapped car will not flame..significantly.flames are unburnt fuel in the exhaust either from the chamber or entering the exhaust.i have single turbo running 418fly and has been mapped by re worx and guess what no flames..most cars on standard ecu are running rich..those with apexi can play with the settings to either get flames or not

Pip mapped my car and i get lots of flames when i lift off the pedal... :3gears-rh

Its great! love a bit of flamage :flamed

Oedipus Rex

Min was mapped by Pip and to be honest it over fuels like crazy at low duty really loud bangs whenever I take my foot off if I\'ve been in traffic at 9 - 15% duty. I think it needs tweaking.

again my car was mapped by pip and Im getting flames too

ScuttleRX

ditto :) another good usage is scaring tailgaters (not that you really get many in a rex, unless you have your sensible hat on :D)

adib

yep mine pops and flames love it
