I\'m looking at simplifying my intake system in view of fitting a FMIC at a later date. I currently have an HKS induction kit, and a hard pipe kit to replace the plastic piping. I would like to remove the metal pipework of the HKS induction kit, but the problem is the pipework from the Charge Reilef and Air By-pass valves is fitted to these. My question is can i vent those two 1" pipes (From Charge Relief and Air By-pass) to atmospshere?

Or, alternatively, can i do away with 1 or both of them with a dump valve?

Here is a piccy of my engine bay if it helps visualise what I\'m talking about:

You can vent the hoses from the ABV and CRV and stick a filter on them like the ones from the Airpump (filter not really necessary as they are one way valves).

You can replace the ABV with an aftermarket Dump valve no problem, but you will get no extra performance from doing this IIRC (just more noise ;) )

Cool - cheers. The exercise is not for performance, dump valve or not! It will be to make more room in the engine bay so i can eventually route some pipework for a FMIC.

I shall get some breather filters similar to K&N filters to stick on the ends.

Will i lose performance from not having the compressed air vented back into the intake like it is currently?

I wouldn\'t have thought so, as the valves close at a certain psi anyway as you accelerate (ABV only opens under part or no throttle).  Besides its pre intercooled warm air they dump back into the air filters.

Filters are really important, but purely from a noise point of view.  They could vent straight to the atmosphere, but I did this with mine and it was so loud (and sounded crap) that I kept getting stared at.  I made it around the block before plugging them back in.

I\'m not sure if a filter would be too restrictive and not give the proper venting properties.  Whether this could cause slight overrun on the turbos and boost I don\'t know, just make sure the \'flow\' is fairly unrestrictive though.

Cheers - i\'ll run it un-filtered to begin with, see what happens.

I think i\'ll also look into replacing the ABV with a dump valve too, just to remove some more pipework, and make the simplification tidier.
