Right, I\'ve been looking around the forums and cannot find much info on this.

What gear and diff oils do people use, and what experiences have you had?

Personally, I was pleased with Redline MT90 which I used in the gearbox of my last car, it improved the shifting and smelled much better than the black filth which came out:) although I have not had the chance to compare it with other manufacturer\'s products.

I want to change both the gear and diff oils in my FD soon, and would like to make a reasonably informed choice based on the collective wisdom of the MRC members:god :god :god

(flattery will get you everywhere :rollin )

I used redline heavy duty shockproof when I did mine. Not had a problem with it in the FD or my old cortina.

The one thing I could never work out is that we all change the engine oil every 3-9k miles, but only change the gearbox every 15-30k depending on the owner.

The gearbox and diff does as much work, but with all the loads being put on it.

Gear/diff oils are not subject to contamination like that of engine oils.
Neo synthetic 75/90 is a very very good oil.
