Misses thinks its me but I reckon over the last week the car has started to smell of fuel quite strongly, I finished workabotu 4:45 today and drove a couple of miles into town to pick the misses up (town traffic most of this) took about 10/15mins and shes idling at about 800rpm so off choke by now, temp gauge in the middle and with this weather Id say about up to temp.... sat idling waiting for the misses to come out of work and its kicking out a little blue smoke and smells of petrol... if I revved it more smoke came out... misses came out and we drove home with the odd bit of smoke coming out....

anyhow took it a couple of miles out of my way to get home to open it up a little and its seemed to have cleared up although im sure it still smells, quite strong too I think....  obviously Im a little worried as Ive had a reno 5 GTT go up in flames before so want to be sure everything is fine...

its been running an Apexi FC Fuel Commander too so its not std. think its running about 12psi? I\'ve got to check that though... its all been set up previous to me owning the car about 6 months ago by pip at WGT....  car was perfect when I picked it up on Monday just the last couple of days it seems to have smelt. am I being paranoid or what?

Occasionally I get a strong-ish smell of petrol from mine, usually shortly after start-up.  My guess is that it\'s dumping a lot of fuel in initially and you\'re smelling that.

Do you have to crank it over a lot before it fires up?

stick your nose between the air pump ancd plenumn and see if you r eyes water. if they do it is the fuel pipe from primay to seceondry rails . to do this get some one else to turn the ignition on for ten secs and then turn off and on again. this way you get fuel pressure up and any leaks will be in your face shall we say
A small turbo

Mine is also the same a real strong smell of fuel especially when I boot it, The engine has just been rebuilt, we put it down to the car running really rich and hopefully a power Fc will sort it out.

It is not uncommon for the rubber link hoses which run from primary rail to fuel in hardline, primary to secondary rail or secondary rail to return hardline to split/crack due to heat.

The last one is most common.Look for pooling around the housings where the oil injectors are.

You will need to remove the UIM and other parts to do it, it is not a straightforward job. You can jumper the fuel pump from the diagnostics port.
Definately want it mate but the dog has just died so will be getting the missus a new dog for christmas....
Sounds like a good deal but will have to ask the dragon first.....  :flamed  :spank

well Ive noticed it only seems to do it on tick over... if Im driving etc it all seems fine, even on tick over its fine but if the car is stationary for more than a minute or 2 it starts to smell and kick out puffs of blue smoke... apart from that the car is sound
