Hi Guy\'s

I have just secured my second RX7, this time a genuine Elford Turbo, my last one only having the body kit !

I have attached some pics, does anyone know anything about this particular car, it is rust free and in pretty good condition, its had a new lump, and has 57 K on the clock, which seems genuine.

I\'m looking forward to picking it up Thursday !

Well i might be tempted after i\'ve taken the best bits of my other FB. As long as the Elford engine/turbo is sound, which it seems to be, then i\'ll offer the non turbo FB for sale, which will great for anyone who wants a new (less than 3 K !) 12A engine ! Not so good if you are looking for a perfect shell !!

haha,i know what you mean about the shell,i\'m getting all my paintwork sorted out in the next month or 2(having spent £godzillions on welding),and i can not wait...my dream will be 80% complete..just lowering springs, bigger turbo and cooler to go!

I think i\'m ok with the Elford, all the usual places are ok, just a few scratches and a few cracks in the front spoiler, the n/s wing has been resprayed, but the rest is original paint.

The rad and oil cooler however are a different story, i need to recore the rad and sort the usual oil leaks from the oil cooler, so they gotta come out....................here we go rotary repairing !!!

The rest seems to be ok, just needs a bloody good clean up, and see from there.

do you have any more picks?, I have a 1985 elford turbo, which has done 75k on the original lump. virtually original, but does have a kenlowe fan fitted, front requires stone chips to be treated and re-sprayed. Have fitted a new rad, as top tank on original rad sprung a leak, had to clear drain pipes in rear window sill, and repair slight rust damage. Have recently had fitted a re-con steering box, about to start spraying wheel arches and underneath with waxoyl. Does anyone know how many elford turbos are still around?

DB-BIGBLUE

Hi Markp,

I had all the work done on the oil cooler, and refurbed the rad, looks and works much better now, i also painted it all, as original as i could. The kenlowe was probably fitted (if not by you ?) as it is much cheaper than replacing the std mazda viscous coupling unit. My aim is to keep it all original, difficult sometimes and definately more expensive !

The rear drains always block, best to keep checking them.

My car needs a resray to make it mint, then i\'ll tackle the mecahnics, i am looking to refurb the whole car, statring with new brakes and finishing with refurbed engine and turbo, which i\'d probably get RX Motors to do after the great job they did on my other FB.

It\'s really hard to know how many Elfords are still around, just as difficult to know how many were actually built, records are hard to find.

Nice to hear from you, i\'m now living in Dubai, the Elford is in store in UK so i now have to get someone else to move it around to have work done etc, but i\'ll keep it and get it done whilst i\'m abroad.

I\'ll see if i have any more pics and i\'ll send em on.

Keep in touch, maybe we should think about an Elford register ???

Cheers

Derek
