rx7 community have more secrets when it comes to porting & tuning than Area 51.

Hi Brian, you have seen mine in person(ports), I think I have posted some primarys on here before.
Come on Carl, dont be shy!!!

Just under 20psi Brian.

Have you guys seen Cosmo 13B or 20B standard ports?  they are HUGE!!!  It is one of the reasons why 13 Cosmo engines are quite sort after.
Thanks,

bnaellis

Yes I have , that would be why a certain builder called Tim has an ever growing collection recently.

You can go very big on the REW end plates, the RE centre plate is quite handy for size.

Thanks brian my girlfriend says I make others look small aswell:cool

Brian,
Ports look very nice, you well be surprised how un-laggy your turbo will be with those ports:)

Jason, yes - that is something many people forget.  A nicely ported engine can have a surprising amount of power on its own.

A friend with a bridgeported twin turbo engine in his RX-7 was amazed by the amount of power the engine had, with 0 psi of boost i.e. a stack of torque right from idle.
Thanks,

antnicuk

now this is getting good.

I would post piccys of mine but the engine is back together..... sorry.

Glen,  i take it that engine is dowled,  do they use short dowels like the mazda stock ones or are they shorter or longer?

Regards
Tony
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Hi Tony,

Yeah - it is dowelled, but really not the best way. This particular engine was dowelled with the short ones (17 extra dowells, each side of both rotor housings).  Some people use this technique some use the heavier through bolts etc., which I believe it better.

Some people like Marty Heard (AVENGE - on ausrotary.com) don\'t believe in Dowell\'s at all, and he owns an 8.1 second 1/4 mile twin turbo 13B.

Go figure! :)
Thanks,

Glenn Butcher

Standard Mazda dowells are still used.

The pics does not show enough detail but the runners and port shape are a real work of art. I expect full boost to be 5-5.5k rpm but I also expect it to get t there alot quicker than before.:D
Engines not doweled I don\'t believe in that either but to each there own I guess.

My engine isn\'t dowelled either,I have found no need to,not yet anyway.

Tim,

Do you match-port the inlet manifold? I\'m assuming you would - I know some people don\'t and are missing out on more power.
Thanks,

Carl
