Ric

hi all,

hope you didn\'t miss me too much. I\'m back nicely tanned and refreshed from my five weeks travelling in SE Asia. Managed to squeeze in Singapore, Sydney, Thailand and Cambodia without it feeling at all rushed. Absolutely fantastic is all I can say and I didn\'t really want to come back. Got so many good memories and over 300 pictures to keep me going. A little selection is online here if you\'re interested:

SE Asia 2005

I did spot a few rotaries on my travels (mainly crusing Bondi on the Easter weekend) and snapped this old schooler for you all in NSW, Australia - nice number plate :)

!!   I\'m heading to SE Asia (and Oz) in 3 weeks time (returning December :) )

Great pics, especially Cambodia, I\'d heard the roads were dusty but that\'s a bit extreme, tempted to take my darthvader style spraypaint ventilator mask with me now :)

Cheers

(ps welcome back)

Thanks - the route from Bangkok->Poipet->Siem Reap is certainly "interesting" and "roads" is not necessarily a word I would use to describe them. It\'s worth doing overland to experience real cambodia but I wouldn\'t really recommend going alone!!

You\'ll really love it - I\'m already thinking about planning another longer trip sometime in the future and taking in Vietnam, Laos and more of Thailand etc.

If you want any tips etc on the region drop me a PM I\'d be quite happy to share as we\'ve made loads of notes in our Lonely Planet and Time Out guides as we went.

Saw a few nice motors crusing Bondi but I didn\'t have my camera sadly!

Hi Ric, good to see you\'re back safe and well.

Just so you know, the batmobile is doing really well (apart from teh odd niggle you can see elsewhere on here).

Managed to egt 21mpg out of it on a trip up to Manchester at Easter, so i was chuffed with that!

Nice pics, i\'m going to stick some up of my holiday to St.Lucia and Tobago i got back from last week.

Cheers,

Tim

Well I never got to ask you any tips in the end Ric, the last couple of weeks before we left went all rather too fast, we\'re now in Thailand after being in Cambodia for a week (just Siem Reap / Angkor Wat) and all I can say is that it was well worth the visit, probably best place i\'ve been to so far. So anyone thinking about going then get that backpack packed.

A couple of months here in Thailand now, then Bali for another couple, then onto RX7 land (Oz), can\'t wait, missing the car though :)

Haven\'t seen many (er any..) interesting cars whatsoever, apart from a Rex on a signboard here in Bangkok for some reason, and this in good nick http://www.amusement-arcade.com/e.jpg at the Sailing Club in Mui Ne Vietnam.

Adios for now.. hope its sunny back at home :)

Ric

nice one wedgie - make sure you take plenty of photos! did you go overland into Cambodia or did you wimp out and fly? ;-)

If you try the Eastern Thai islands make sure you check out Ko Nang Yuan (tiny place off the coast of Koh Tau) if you want to try a spot of diving. I\'d also recommend a little place called Than Sadet on Ko Phangnan if you want some really chilled out time. Not many people know about it as it\'s not in many guide books. Oh and if you do, check out the glowing planction at night in the sea. Trust me - it\'s cool.
