Just Got My RX

Well, I\'ve not long got home from picking up my first RX7 and WWWOOOOOOWWWWWEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! What a car!!!!!! And I can\'t believe how many heads it turns too (and not just from young Chavs either, had older fellas staring too!!!). However, there are a few little erks with her, so I was wondering if any of you guys might have any ideas fir me before I go back the the place I bought her from, so if its a very easy fix, I can get it sorted localy instead of having to drive back there. Ok, the probs.

1. I\'ll start with the most worrying first, fith gear seems to vibrate when power is going through the transmition, and has \'popped\' out of fith gear a couple of times, every other gear seems fine.

2. The speedo and rev. meter work ......sometimes lol They seem to be ok when shes started up, but after a little while they stop working.

3. The bonnet seems to be raised slightly on the drivers side, not much at all, but theres a little wobble in it. Its too wet outside to have a proper look around, could it just be a rubber stopper thing too high?

4. I can\'t figer out ho on earth to get the stereo to work, its a jap Kenwood with a band expander attched. It opens fine and some \'Carlos Fandango\' lights flash around and the screen shows like a fruit machine with 2 bars and a cherry and the number 1 at the side. it also has a little blue keyring thingy with it which I\'ve tried pressing, but I cant get anything to work and its left me feeling realy stupid lol.

Apart from all of that, I\'m REALY happy with her, runs like a dream and looks :bandit  Just have to get the stearing wheel changed now, so I can get in and out without looking like a total :rollin lol

rx\'s are known for problems with 5 th and 3rd gear syncro\'s...get it checked bud.

First and foremost.. pictures of the car

As for the bonnet, should be simple to spot unless its a kink in the hood. Which end is it raised? There\'s two rubber stoppers either side at the front but they should be level. Could be a car alarm push switch, if you have one.

As above though, your gear synchro\'s are probably shot. Not sure on a Rex\'s but on my audi it was a £300 jobbie for a garage to do, although that was a problem getting it \'in gear\' not it falling out.

No idea about the stereo though, sounds like its worth taking a picture

With a bodykit and wing like that i\'d get some bigger wheels to balance the look out pronto....


Enjoy your Rex, i\'ve had mine a couple of months and its incredible.

Just be prepared for some hideous fuel bills - mine\'s running 15/16mpg average....

looks lovely mate, I do like silver ones. Gotta agree on the wheels front though. Get some 17\'s minimum. 18\'s would set it off a treat.

Thanks fellas!!!!!! I\'m planning on some wheels soon ish, once I\'ve got the niggles sorted and I sell my 200sx, can\'t afford much till then. Will 18s fit in there ok? Its pretty low. And any ideas on what would look best, thinking probrubly of imports, REALY don\'t fancy putting some TSWs on there lol:rolleyes:

Is that a Supra body kit on it?! I had to double check that it was actually a Rex I was looking at.  :rolleyes:

Nice car though mate! Mine came with a Jap Kenwood stereo. The display is mainly in Japenese and it\'s not easy to guess which button actually does what. I think after I get completely sick of listening to Radio 2 I\'ll just rip it out and put a English Mp3 player in there

jon mate no need to pull the stereo out!! just go and buy a band expander mate!! ive got 1 if u need it!!! much cheaper than a new stereo plus u will be able to pick up any radio station u like!!!

I appreciate what you\'re saying mate, but I don\'t really listen to the radio. It\'s a double-sized head unit with a mini-disk slot behind. It looked the bollo% when it folds out, but I don\'t have a mini-disk player to knock some disks, plus if I had a single slot head unit I could tuck my boost controller underneath the head unit - at the moment it\'s right next to my left leg, it\'s in an irritating position, and it gets pretty hot, especially with my leg resting against it.

All in all, I think I\'m going to keep an eye out on eBay for a cheap mp3 player.  

Anyone Japenese people on here want to buy a CD/Mini-Disk player?  :rollin :rollin
