Seen some very nice shiny cars on here so I thought I\'d start a thread about how to make your car all lovely and sparkly.

Personally I use Mer or T-Cut. Two coats of either, buff the hell out of it then use something called Demon shine. Which you mix a capful in a bucket of water and using a jug pour it all over the car. Then you dry it off immediately with a chamois.

Works a treat.

please feel free to share your shiny secrets with the rest of us.

If you really have the patience cause it takes all bloody day and the polish ain\'t cheep.

1 Wash it with Meguire\'s Gold Class Shampoo
2 Go ovet the whole car with Meguires Stage 1 Paint Cleaner
3 Put atleast 3 coats of Meguires Stage 2 Polish on.
4 A layer of that T-Cut coloures polish
5 2 Coats or Meguires Stage 3 Wax.

To do my whole car to perfection takes about 8 hours.

I know it sounds a bit like a meguires advert but I have used there stuff fot years and it really is good, I have heard that swisol or xymol are better but I can\'t aford there stuff. (zymol concours wax is 145 quid for 8oz)

Still dont think Autoglym super resin polish can be beaten, especially on black cars.
I have always found Mer too smeary.

all the meguiars range is is amazing, but for faded paintwork autoglym paint renovator does the trick :bandit

Thing with Mer is you need to buff the living hell out of it before you get anywhere

Zymol/swissol. No contest.

Both Autoglym and Mer are polishes and by definition cut the paint every time you use them. I would never use either product knowing what they do to the finish of the car.

Meguiers is a better option then either of the above, but the Zymol/Swissol products are far, far better and go a lot further. The downside is the initial outlay. However their cheapest wax is about £40, which is what I use. So far the tub has lasted me about 3 years as you dont have to use it as often.

When I had my S2000, the guys in the States and the UK when into this big time!!

For value and results Meguires Tech Wax seem to be the favourite over and over.  If your not bothered about cost and you dont mind importing some this whole series of treatment was very popular:

I forget what brand it is but if you had way too much money there is a company who send a chap out to your car.  He takes a sample and analyses it with all kinds of equipment that I cant pronounce let alone spell.  They then put together a case of various concoctions, your own stamp etc etc etc.  That’s the best one to use â€" but who would spend over £1000 in one go!!!

Zymol/Swissol isupply this service. However it is expensive!! :)

I\'ve imported Zaino for mine and to be honest, wouldn\'t use anything else. It doesn\'t cut the paint like some others do and produces something like a 99% optically perfect finish. Done properly my black FD looks stunning, like a black mirror (best way I can describe it!)

The cost of wax is largely based upon one ingrediant (again cant remember what it is   ) which is a plant extract from a particular group of countrys. Turtle wax contains approx 5% and the high end "expensive" ones can contain up to about 60%ish!!

It does also depend what you wash your car with next.  Some soaps and sponges can almost completly remove all your hard work and then you are not building up layers of wax to protect your pride and joy.  Some waxes also claim to reduce the likelyhood of stone chips (cause the wax dries very hard and takes the brunt)

Rather than be vague...

Just found it on the Zymol website - http://www.zdouk.com/

“Zymol Hand-Crafted waxes have a Carnauba  content of 37 to 61% by volume â€" 5 to 10 times the industry standard.”

Archbish

swissol fan here, bought some over 3 years ago when i got scooby as part of a group buy, the pot of wax (smallish pot) was like best part of a tonne but i\'ve barely used a third so far using it monthly (OK had a bit of time off while the RX7 was in garage http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxdm46052GB\' target=\'_blank\'>http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/3/3_2_116.gif\' border=0>)
The good stuff is worth it IMO.
Ergh did you say T cut at the start everyone say cutting compound & eventually goodbye paint?
