Hi Guys,

Apologies if this question has been asked a thousand times before, i\'m a bit new to it!:)

Just imported a \'92 Type R with 52K miles on the clock.  I\'ve heard that it should be rebuilt at around 50-60K.  I only use the car on weekends and for show use (about 3K a year).

I\'m not sure whether to get the rebuild done now before I start minor engine mods, wait until the 60K or wait until something pear shaped happens!

Got a years warrenty with the car if this helps.

Any help would be greatly appraciated.

Thanks
Chris

p.s. if anyone can point me in the right direction for the first few basic mods  I sould buy I would also appricate it.

without meaning to be negative, I highly doubt your warranty will cover engine wear and tear

Is it standard under the bonnet at the moment mate?

the best thing to do is to get a compression test done, that\'ll give you an idea of what condition the engine is in.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the advise!:)

Warenty is a third party one and seems to cover the engine and turbos
(upgraded warenty), er, i hope:rolleyes:

Standard under the bonnet at the mo, with just a GReddy boost controller in
car (turned well down!).  Couple of HKS mushrooms as well, but nothing else,
even standard exhaust.

Will book into local tuning shop I trust for set up and compression check:)

make sure its a rotary compression test you have done .ie. take it to a rotary specialist
