Does anyone know if Nitrous is controllable by rpm rather than just wide open throttle, i.e can you say have nitrous turn off once its reached a certain rpm.

Yes you can - using an RPM window switch. But you would only need to do this if you drive in a way that you don\'t change gear before the fuel cut operates. With nitrous you don\'t need to go to max revs anyway, and changing 1000rpm below usual gives best acceleration times.
For turbos your best off with a throttle position sensor switch - you can use these to trigger the nitrous at 80% of WOT as it makes the turbos spool up far far quicker.
If you\'re thinking about nitrous then use the best kits available - these are produced by Wizards of NOS Highpower Systems in the UK, and use far better and safer components that US alternatives.

Trev is undoubtedly te best mine of information on nitrous having been using it for over 25 eyars on bikes and cars. There\'s also plenty of info on what makes the US systems crap compared to the UK systems.....
I\'m running one of their kits on a Skyline GTSt. Even when I was just using the 25bhp jets there was a massive improvement in turbo spool up time. Currently working my way up to 100bhp jets that actually give a figure of 150bhp on turbo cars due to the cooling effect of the nitrous on the intake charge. Cools things down far more efficiently than any massive intercooler.

Hi Pete

Hows tricks?

So you are saying i can implicate my theory.

Basically i only want to use Nitrous to aid spool up time, and in the first initial rpm of boost, say to 5500 rpm.

So i could set up a system that operates from WOT or 80% and then cuts out at somewhere between 5500 - 6000 rpm at whatever i have it set at.

If this is possible i think it may be just what i am after!

Let me know if thats do able please Pete.

Thanks

All\'s fine here (just) except I need a new clutch for my Skyline! Trust you\'re doing good too.
What you want to do is easily do-able. Even just a 25 hp shot of nitrous is plenty to reduce spool up time to virtually 0 seconds. Greddy make window switches as do loads of other companies.
People don\'t believe that a 25 hp kit will make any difference on 1/4 mile runs, but these are where it\'s most effective. 25 hp isn\'t much on top of 280 hp, but the thing is, it\'s 25 hp extra from 2500 rpm upwards. And with the benefit of the turbos spooling up at 2500 you can lop a lot of time off a run.
