Hi guys,
Got my boost gauge fitted today.
Now, the bad news.  I knew my second turbo wasn\'t working, but there seems to be problem with my primary turbo as well.  I was testing boost level in second and third gear.  When I reved it to 3/4 k, the boost gauge only showed 0.2 bar.......

any hissing noises ? might say if you have a leak?

J.j.

Hissing sound??
Leak?
We did find some oil in the intake, but very very little.

Cheers

i take it you\'ve checked your vacuum hoses are all connected and none are split

:wave

J.j.

Not sure if we\'ve checked all of them.....   But as far as I know, there\'s no splits, loose or anything........

:(  :(  :(  :(

maybe its an ecu problem :( you\'re best bet is probably to get it checked over by a specialist, they will be able to diagnose the problem pretty quick. :)

J.j.

Thanks James.  Will do.

same as I had, was a vacum hose off.  It was located under the inlet manifold (looking from the front), you need to remove the black plastic box in front of the inlet (2 x 10mm nuts and slip off the 2 vacum hoses) to have a good look under the front of the manifold.  have a look at my thread further down the page (boost problem one)

What rpm is the idle when warm?  A high one could indicate a vac hose problem under the Intake manifold.  If all is okay, listen for hissing under power (hard to do i know...)

Right, dont think I\'ll have time to pop down to a garage today.  No tools with me either, so probably will have to wait til weekend.
No, the idling\'s good.  Hissing sound under power.....  Not a easy one is it......
Anyway, well let you guys know if I get it sorted.
Thanks

If you\'re not making boost on the primary then it\'s extremely unlikely to be a vacuum line problem.  Without 10psi on the primary you\'ll never get the secondary to spool period.

It\'s probably a leek on the main pipework from the turbos to the intercooler and then to the intake manifold.  If you\'ve got a coupler that\'s off completely then you wouldn\'t make 0.2bar, it sounds like a split.  Check all the rubber couplers thoroughly, the most likely culprit (unless you\'re running an efini y-pipe) is the rubber coupler that comes off the top of the turbo housing.

Did you drive the car or did you rev the engine in neutral?
0.2bar is what you get if you rev it in neutral.

J.j.

No, 0.2 is driving.  dont even get 0 when in neutral.
My y pipe\'s the metal one.

p.s.  Is not dangerous driving like this or is it?

As I said I had 0.2bar through the revs and it was a vacum pipe off.

Yes, you can overspin your turbos driving like this if you want to boost. Did you check all your couplers ? What about the connection from the Y-pipe to the blow-off valve ?
