I\'ve been running an apexi safc for about a year now with no problems. Its easy to install/use and displays your revs, throttle, air flow and air flow correction. It was perfect for what i needed at the time as i only wanted to run approx 10 - 11 psi of boost. It cannot contol the ignition timing at all though which is no good if your wanting to run alot of boost while using the stock ecu. Saying that you could get a piggy back ignition unit aswell but the cost would be getting on towards the price of a good aftermarket ecu. If your running the stock turbo and just want a little more boost i would deffinatley recomend it.

I have a Microtech LT8, was advised to have this over the Apexi Power FC, nothing wrong with the Apexi as i used to have one in the FD. As far as i am aware the Mircotech is supposed to be a better ECU, has 3d mapping whatever the hell that is!!!!!
All in all i am very pleased with it, although you cannout run the oil metering pump with it, so its good old premix time.

Thanks all.. :wave

Jetpilot.  After all the digging this past week and a nice chat with \'Pip\'...
The Microtech seems to be what I am leaning to now. Haltech initally as I ran one awhile back in another car, but it\'s quite costly now.  The Microtech seems the best bang for buck!

Do you find it\'s user friendly and how wide are the maps/grids?

Haven\'t gone to fully check them out as yet, just reading a few testimonials from guys on other fourms and it rates pretty well. Think this is the best way first, experience and testing from others.

What I want will require a fully mapable EcU!

Any comments or info you(anyone) could shoot my way will be much appreciated! :cheers

Maps/Grids, your confusing me now dude.
I would have a chat with RX Motors, they are ones looking after my car.

TRex

Sorry Dude.....

I guess you aren\'t mapping yourself........

What mods are you running and have you done any timed runs?

 Rgds

Hi Mate
I have a blitz k27 turbo, exhaust, 4 x 1000cc injectors, bosch fuel pump, uprated fuel regulater, just about to add a fmic and the microtec.

No i havent done any timed runs, not into drag so much, will be more of a track car.

Sounds like a sweet package and should make a nice daily ;)
Not wanting to throw a cat amongst the pidgeons, but have you considered an Autronic ECU?
They have a "self tune" feature that does exactly what it says...No real need for dyno tuning unless you\'re wanting to extract that last \'eenth of power.

Not wanting to turn you away from Microtech, but the LT8 series does not have the abiltiy to offer an "adjustable" leading-trailing timing split. Something you may be needing if planning high boost.

TRex

Good stuff.

Just been trying to get as much information on the Microtech as possible, but the website is very very poor!

It doesn\'t seem to do wide fueling and doesn\'t mention boost control.
This I can\'t believe as it would require additional units.

Oh well, Back to the digging!

One thing i do know is it doesnt have boost control, but its a small thing in my eyes. Alledgdley the 3d mapping is excellent.

TRex

Thanks for clearing that.

I deffo won\'t be interested in it as personally thats useless to me without any boost control.

Back to the drawing board and pockets.. :(

 Thanks for the info.

 Hyporx,
Spot on with the microtech from what I have now been finding.
Got good features and seems a reliable unit, user friendly the lot.
But seems limited to what I require and experience wise!

Most people run a seperate unit for boost control.   ie, GRedy profec range.    The power FC will not control boost on the single unless you do lot of playing which is why people use seperate units!

Anyone know how much an Autronic unit is, i like the sound of the self tune, although i hear microtec are bringing something like it out soon.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Can you expand on this statement?? If you are talking about a variable split based on load pressure then you are right...but what unit does, and is it necessary?
The LT8 does offer adjustable split based on rpm. As ignition timing is based on on engine rpm, this is where adjustability is needed.

The Autronic, as far as i am aware, is an excellent unit...but very pricey in comparrison.
The main factors you need to consider in choosing a unit is
:what is your aim,
:what does it need to support,
:what is your budget and most importantly...
:is there a good support base for your chosen unit with good tuning knowledge for your rotary.

Good luck.
