recommend suitable tyre sizes please

ok bought the 18x8inch rims today offset is 40 mm what size tyres should i be using front/rear,
wider at the rear or all the same and what about tyre hight 35s or 40s or a mixture of both,

I\'d go either 225/40 x 18 or 235/40 x 18 front and back.

Thats the maximum really on an 8 inch wide rim.
