http://www.rx7.org/Robinette/air_pump.htm has some info on this.  To be honest, its not really necessary to remove the ACV (air control valve) as it hardly weighs anything, and you have to make up blanking plates for the holes that are left.  Do you have an aftermarket ECU?

Hi Jon,

If you don\'t mind me asking, what\'s the relevance of asking if Scott has an afermarket ECU?

The reason I\'m asking is because I currently have the air pump off the car as I\'m trying ti diagnose a turbo issue, and I was thinking of leaving the air pump off.

Do you need an aftermarket ECU because the stock ECU (what I\'ve got) throws a fault code if the air pump is disconnected?

Cheers
Jon.

When you rempove the airpump you have to have removed the cat first, if you have removed the cat then its best to have an aftermarket ecu as you will need the extra fueling required.

If you have your cat then you must put your airpump back on.

hope that helps

If the car still has a CAT, then you need the air-pump (acts like a bellows for cat keeping it hot).  This can cause the cat to clog.

If you take the Cat off, generally speaking you will need an aftermarket ECU to compensate for the free flowing exhaust

The idle "roughs up" without the air-pump in place.

Just a quicker way of asking if he\'d still got cat in place / level of tune etc...

Thanks Jon and Donato. I\'ll put the air pump back on then since I don\'t have my Apexi installed yet.
