Hi Guys and Girls

Just to keep all posted and offer possible help. In the very early January i hope to do this converstion, with the help of RX Motors, i have FD front calipers and i am awaiting some FD disks so all being well it will be a relatively easy swap/converstion. Will let you know the progress just incase any fellow FC owners want to upgrade to the larger FD disks and cailpers.

Thanks to Clive and RX Motors for all the help with measurements and parts.

i was under the impresion that although fc callipers fit on fd\'s you couldn\'t do it the other way round due to something on the fd calliper casting????????????

will be waiting to see your findings.

Tim told me years ago that FD calipers fit straight onto FC.  Never tried it though
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Apparently the FD calipers do fit straight to the FC, just not sure about disks as yet. Will know soon though!

jetpilot

Update as promised. Well, its not possible, the disks will not fit over the FC hubs, so its back to just using the FD calipers. Will let you know when its done.

t2rew

by how much don\'t they fit?
i was told that they do fit but the calipers don\'t.
on my t2 the alloy hubs had corroded very badly and became bigger with the corrosion. are you taking about a big difference?

jetpilot

I am not actually sure of the diffences in dimensions as yet as the car is still with RX Motors. I did suggest getting the discs machined out but they reckon there will not be enough meat left on them. The calipers definatley fit though. Will update further when i collect the car and get the full low down.

jetpilot

A further update for all interested.
I collected the car and we reviewed the situation regarding the disks. I am now going to have the external diameter of the hubs machined down and the inside of the discs.
Basically, the hub dimensions are too large for the disc, so the best way round it was the route described above.
Will keep all interested partys up to date as and when its done.

is it worth all the hassle getting everything ground down and the such like - or does it make that BIG of a difference ??

Yeah they are bigger, + have gone for drilled and grooved so should improve performance even more.

I have just fitted twin turbo calipers and discs onto my TII,  the calipers fit straight on.  As for the discs,  the FD discs are only about 7mm difference each side over the diameter.   Which would make it very difficult to make brackets to mount the calipers further out as the bolts are 12mm.

For that tiny difference it was easier just to buy cross drilled and grooved discs from clive that fitted straight on.  Brakes are great now.

The calipers are basically the same but the FC ones are prone to seizing and the FD ones dont seem to.

how about  the rear calipers?? can they be changed to FD ones or are they completely different, reason i asked is the ones on my TII are going and wanting to know what options there is to may be upgrade instead of just replacing them.
