Just another newbie question,

After being stood up for a couple of days on starting her up, she\'ll smoke quite badly for a good couple of minutes.

Its a white smoke no blue or anything,  Normal or a sign that the last oil change was probably done with synthetic oil? or something much much worse....

Planning on doing an oil change as soon as she\'s back from the garage (New Clutch)

Cheers!

Normally mine smokes for about 3 seconds on start up no more. Im sure someone will be along with more tech knowledge than me shortly.

Donato

A couple of minutes of white smoke is perfectly normal when the engine is cold. Some cars smoke for a few seconds some a few minutes.

Cheers

yeh like the other guys said pretty normal to do this, mine does it for about 30 secs

Big Stu

I think this is where any fuel, oil, or moisture is coming out of the rotars and the exhaust system. Although i could be wrong.

Seem like a lot of people have this.

does anyone get a bit of popping from the exhaust as well while the car is cold?

Big Stu

a little bit whilst she is warming up,  and then really big pops if i boot it and take my foot totally off the gas.

toon19974

thats ok seems to be normal aswell.

Big Stu

Seems like it. I quite like the popping along with the low rumbling noise for the exhaust. Im a bit scared that the neighbours cat might get into the exhaust though.

ChrisDubbya

Thats good, was just wondering...

Wasn\'t too worried about the popping and rumbling I like that!!:D

As for the neighbours cat, never was a lover of animals, Kebabs on the other hand. yum yum :rollin

mine used to smoke with white smoke every time i started her up until it got harder to start, this was signs of the water seals going, had the engine rebuilt now, engine builder confirmed the engine faileure was due to the water seals going.

I would check if its eating water, mine was going through a litre every 30 miles.
