Nice, did you buy that in Edinburgh by any chance?

:)

You wont get 600hp from that turbo, take a look at T88 or T51R KAI they are big enough, also you will have to look at porting in order to meet 600hp, bridge port most likely;)  and indeed 1600cc secondaries!!!

BTW i nealr bought that rx you have last year!!! JVS yes??

Yep, then shipped it to the sunny Isle of man.

Im looking 4 600BHP in the end, with the T04e I was hopin 4 around 500 at the fly (with the other mods).

I only have a £6000 budget (cost me a Skyline) so I need to do it right.

I have seen this car in the metal and its nice! Its got a massive set of brakes on it, so you should be able to stop it once you have put all that power through it!!

Good luck with the project mate.

You wanna talk 600hp then i dont think £6k will be enough???

For serious power mods talk to these guys //www.dragonperformance.co.uk Ross runs highly tuned rx7\'s and will know what you exactly need ok :)

Endless 8-potts (there HUGE!!!)

One additional thing to note - you may get close to 500bhp (flywheel) but you\'ll be very close to the limits of the standard ports in the engine.

To go for an eventual goal of 600bhp you reall need very large porting done.  I\'m not sure that I\'ve seen or heard of any cars running even into mid 400bhp at the wheels withough porting.

Hopefully Carl (Hayward Rotary) will see this thread and add some expert advice though.

Why are you aiming that high !!
To achieve 600 you would also need clutch, gearbox, maybe LSD, serious rubber on wheels - new wheels to take serious rubber.

Also with a bridge port/clutch the car would be crap to drive around town. Also with big turbos and long/big intercoolers the lag would be bad too.

400 in a rx7 is more than adequate and would beat most things on road (and would still be a pleasure to drive.)

about 400-450 would be ok 4 now, but Im wantin to make sure the main parts are ready to take about 600 in the future...

I recently had the pleasure of driving a single turbo\'d car with what is described as \'monster\' porting and a moderate turbo.  In heavy traffic it was not fun!!! I didn\'t get chance to push it at all (traffic and fear of breaking something!!) but this car is going to be somewhere over 500 at the wheels when it\'s new turbo goes on.

When I got back in mine it was quite a relief and made me realise that I\'m going to need two of these damn things at some point - one to keep twin and easy and one for track abuse!

healthy mods to get to 400 fly would be good to try befor going further and obviously depends on what you\'re going to use it for!!!

whats the deal with adding an extra set of injectors rather than upgrading the secondaries?? Is this better/easier?? I take it a PowerFC would be able to control 3 sets of injectors or is it something that is not done very much?

Thanks

I dont know which to change, and whats the diff. between pri. and sec. ones???

initially as everyone has suggested, go for the Secondaries. Primaries are as the name suggests the main injectors which are always working on & off boost, the secondaries kick in when the engine requires more fueling (i.e. under boost). If you run massive primaries and secondaries you may find the engine doesn\'t run too well off boost as potentially it would run way too rich, although if the PFC is mapped correctly it should be able to reduce/increase the injector duty in line with the engine requirements. I\'m sure if I\'ve missed anything someone else will be able to fill in the blanks.

The single turbo which I have has additional injectors as opposed to replacing.

With a t04e; its not really a huge turbo. WIth a substantial porting, I think you should see around 400 at the fly at 1.1. What size housing is it, .6?

If you really want big power then you need to go for something the sort of T51 spl BB, or T88 33D etc or two gt35\'s would see you right but that one would be best used on a 20b.

There\'s a balance to be reached with injectors:

Stock primary injectors are 500\'s (I think), secondaries are 850s.

If you runs them too small you may end up running them at 95%+ for periods of time.  This can cause them to fail (dead engine) or you may hit their limit (dead engine).

If you whack huge injectors in both primary and secondary you may only ever get them running at 50% of capacity.  The fuel won\'t atomise too well and performance will suffer.  You\'ll end up running righ on the primaries.

Depending on what power level you\'re shooting for you usually upgrade the secondaries and leave the primaries as they are.  So replace the 850s (secondary injectors) with 1200s, 1300s or 1600s.  You\'d only need to up the primaries if you were running massive power or having problems with fuelling.

Keeping the 500s in place will keep driveability and some notion of economy!

As far as I\'m aware the Apexi can only control the primary and secondary injectors and doesn\'t have map options for a thirs pair.

Iain

PS.  If you\'re seriously thinking of doing this level of mods to a car talk to your favourite tuner and spend some time working out with them where you want to get to, what order things will be done in and your budget!
