Evening,

need a bit of help. I want to connect an aftermarket cd player to the Bose unit.

Now, I found when I took out the Bose unit the plug which usually slots in to the back of any stereo is wired up to the inside  of the Bose cassette player. Has anyone successfully replaced their Bose units (cassette and CD) with an aftermarket stereo? Any instructions, much appreciated.

For wiring diagrams.  The wiring is pretty straight forward the only mod i had to make to the wiring was applying a 12v feed from the back of the stereo to the green and black wire for the rear amp(so your rear speakers work).  Only took me a month to notice they defenitely weren\'t working before i asked here!!!

Good luck

and nearly forgot your easiest bet is to buy a harness which converts the 2 Wiring sockets into 1!!!

thanks for that.

I dont think I saw the rear speaker wires when I checked. Also, the only place where sound is heard from is the centre speaker. The remaining speakers seem to have a little fuzz to them but no sound output.

Where is the actual amp based. I have so far lifted the rear seats and found nothing under there.

Its just a shame really as I would like to listen to the whole Bose system work.  :(

If you have the acoustic sound system you\'ll find the rear amp in the boot.  If you unclip the wave sytem you\'ll find it on the left on side of the boot behind the ducting.

it is the acoustic system which I have. I have unclipped the whole Bose system and the only thing I found was a motor sort of unit on the bottom left corner. So suppose if you\'re looking at the opened boot from above. Its in the bottom left corner, attached just behind the Bose woofer plastic panel.

Think I may need to take some pictures.

Also, my cd player keeps spitting the CD back out, also part of the Bose system. Any common faults?

Thanks

I am watching this thread with interest Freddy, as i want to know about the amp too, pics would be great, my front centre speaker has broken up after being exposed to the heat i think, i cant find another one as yet! i dont know if its a tweeter or just a small speaker, i like the bose system but would like to increase power to the rear a bit more,

I would imagine if you still have the genuine CD player, you may need to replace the laser.  When i originally imported mine it jumped like anything so i opted to change the head unit completely.  I believe you can get replacement lasers from somewhere like RS Components or an audio or ICE specialist can probably get it repaired for you.
