Earth problem?
Or your clifford needs a reset?

yup as above, where is the negative battery cable attached to now ? if I am undestanding your setup correctly it will need attaching to the bodywork. you may find you have problems though as the starter draws a lot of current and in the stock setup on many cars has a direct feed back to the negative battery terminal or one that is in very close proximitity to the starter.

As mike says, voltdrop could well be a problem, you may have to resort to a battery upgrade, but try also using top notch wiring.  Where are you earthing?  If possible try and use an existing earthing point. (theres usually one in the boot of every car)

I think its more likely that the engine is not earthed to the car. Also, make sure the Starter is well earthed to the body. And, yes, there is a voltage drop because the current now has to go all along the chassis from the boot to the engine/starter.

If the prob is voltdrop then a nes batt wont help mate. volt drop is related to volt  drop in the cable due to dia and length of run and derating factors caused by ambient air temps..
i wolud say its the usual; fault bad earths

Run a negative/earth feed to the front as well as a positive.

And make sure both cables are very beefy due to the distances involved!

I ran an earth from the battery behind my passenger seat, to a good earthing point in the engine bay under the main fuse block. Also connected to this earthing point is my earthing block, with 4 substantial earthing wires going all over the place under the bonnet.

You can never have too many earthing points!

When i did mine, i took an earth cable back to the original earth point in the engine bay and it started fine. If you look at the original earth point it goes into a black box, you will need to make sure this is all earthed. I took the battery connector off this and connected the cable straight to the point where the battery connection was, if this is clear as mud let me know and i will take a picture tomorrow if you need it.

Sorry i was such a small answer back to the PM you sent, i am extremely busy at work and do not have time to respond all the time as im only online at work.

Good luck
