You do if you want to run more boost. If your happy with it as it is you can leave it alone.

I plan to get mine in this weekend and do the idle test. This sets the idle to be less lumpy.

Then I\'ll leave it till over the winter and get it Mapped by Pip after Christmas. With my car being pretty much std I don\'t see the need to map it appart from saving me a few MPG, which won\'t be worth the £300+ mapping charge.

Single turbo, better intercooler, fuelling after Chrimbo :D

It amazes me how many people with the PFC have idling problems, I let the PFC go through its learning process as per instructions. I then checked the TPS voltages were in spec. set the hard idle to spot on 750 RPM and my idle stays constant and smooth all the time.

You can change the boost level using PFC, it has two setting levels built in. You can change between the two using the commander You can also change the values if you wish, I would not recommend changing the higher boost setting (without fueling mods and a 3 Bar map sensor) but you could decrease the lower one to make wet weather driving a bit safer If you\'ve got lead boots on ;)

I\'ve not got a great knowledge of tuning, so to be honest it will need to go to pip for the initial setup. At least i can build from there. I\'ll have to give him a ring on monday and get a quote for the fitting. Mines a standard one with after market induction and exhaust. It has been rebuilt by pip (don\'t think any porting was done to it at the time, shame really). It needs the standard vacuumm pill fitting anyway because it has only done about 2000 miles since rebuild. Would be nice to have a lower boost setup for wet conditions, especially with the 225 tyres on the back !

I felt it was a good place to start, so that when i uprate stuff i have the appropriate setup every time.

Maybe my goal is to try and have it setup as a single in the next 12 months ! But i have to start somewhere.

Cheers

The PFC is a straight swop for the standard ECU except for a bit of cutting on the lower mounting bracket to be able to plug in commander. Car will run using PFC straight out of the box. All depends what you feel comfortable with.

With all these new PFC\'s being fitted the next big thing on the forum will be "Why is my A/C is not working"

Kev

P.S. bit confused by your fitting vacuum pill satement

wiggy

So the PFC doesn\'t allow you to operate the A/C??

Bastard I was actually planning on keeping the A/C this time round as well as I usually remove it to save some weight and remove the drain from the engine when on....

scooby_si

never heard that before dont worry air con is still pucker post power FC although it is the only time my idle hunts when the air con is doing it\'s thing but no biggy.....

wiggy

Si , Did you do the idle setup when you fitted it as It says you have to put on certain things like the A/C so the PFC can set itself

Cheers

scooby_si

yeah all sorted c/o Pip revs still just fluters when at the lights with the air con on full pelt but as i say no biggy....Goes like sheet off a shovel & is mucho fun!

Oh I thought everyone knew this one. Aircon does work with PFC, but seems to give allsorts of problems. Mine works put only on fan position 1. Loads of threads on this subject on various RX7 forums.

I would just like to say that I have a UK model FD with air con as standard, and the Apexi has had no ill effect on it what so ever. ;)

It\'s the US Boys that have all the bother with air con, not the right hookers.

well my Power FC is now in and I\'ve just drove 30miles no probs. Followed the idle setup proceedure and the air con seems to work fine. The idle of the car is miles better now as well. Before it would almost cut out after a run if you came off the throttle too quickly. Now it doesn\'t :D

Plus I can now see whats happening with all the bits in the engine such as water temp. Fan kicks in about 94c and drops to about 89-90 then does it again. I noticed the engine light flash a couple of times on the way home though when nailing it. Hav to look into that....

Roll on the next mod :D :D :D :D

Power FC, commander and Apexi rad cap all arrived today. Took less than 5 days for delivery and no customs charges :D

All this lot for less than £470....BARGAIN!!!!!

I\'m a happy camper now.....My speedo converter came as well so no more kmh reading for me....yipeeeee

Sorry but don\'t be to certain the duty and the VAT doesn\'t catch up with you, we have brought a few Turbo kits in from Aus and the cost us £500 with the freight being paid that end, we thought we had got away with one Kit but it turns out they have 6 months to bill you.

With just two weeks to go on one kit before the 6 months was up, we recently had a £623 bill  land on the mat !!
All the best Clive

I know what your saying as I\'ve been stung myself before but only with FedEx. Parcel force who delivered the package always ask for Duty when they deliver, if you don\'t pay you don\'t get the item. They didn\'t ask so I didn\'t pay :D

I think it works different for business though as you are not allowed anything duty free coming into the country. Private individuals are allowed a certain amount duty free (hence marking down the value of goods) The Current UK limit is £100 IIRC. Also marking them as a gift often works, again for individuals not business. Greenline send the invoice seperate and don\'t put any value on the package and theres a nice tick in the box marked gift ;)  Jason at Greenline is a STAR and probably saved me £100+ :D

Christ that is an awesome price! All I\'ve got to do now is see if I can raise the necessary $$. The import duty thing is a fookin joke. I had a pair of \'99 spec front lights shipped from the US. They cost roughly £100 and I ended up paying over £50 tax.....theiving c*nts. They charged me extra duty because they decided they were "electrical goods" and also charged me duty on the bastard shipping! Anyway, I\'d love to get something back from the money grabbing assholes and sneaking a PFC into the country seems like a good way to do it!
