Sorry if this has been asked before but...

I want to fit a dump valve to my car but I don\'t know which one to choose.  I would like one that I can also "tune" the noise.  I have read that if you change some stuff on the car without getting a remap then It can harm the life of your engine???

Any advice appreciated.. thanx

you won\'t need a remap for a dump valve, but I\'d be careful about tuning it for noise.  just take one of the hoses to the airbox off the recirculating valve on your car.

The noise is generated by the shape of the dump valve (not much tuning to be done here) and the size of the opening - higher boost applications require a larger opening.  If you close it too much then I would expect you\'ll get boost spikes at gearchanges or sudden lift off the throttle  This would be because it cannot expell sufficient pressure quickly enough.

Does the noise warrant risk to your engine...?

Yeah your right, doesn\'t warrent even the slightest risk.  Just something I wanted to have :cool

Would it make any difference If I did take off one of the hoses? which one and would I have to block anything off.......just out of interest of course :D :D

One is a BOV and one is a charge relief valve. Make sure you block off the unused opening on the air box that will be left behind.

good point, the BOV is the black one near to the airbox and you would definitely have to plug the hole in the airbox.

The brown one further back is the charge relief valve which vents pressure created by the secondary turbo during the pre- spool cycle.

take a look on here

lots of diagrams etc so you can identify the right hose. - Been thinking about doing this so post up and let me know how you get on if you do it.  Be interested to know what you plug the airbox with.

I will have a go at doing this but judging by all that info on the link it won’t be for some time! :))  If no one else beats me to it then I will try and pose back on here cause I read some similar to this before but couldn’t find the thread
