Hi guys, this is my first post (I\'m a virgin here so tread carefully).

I\'m in the process of buying my first RX7 (1993 Type R - unmoded engine except for a turbo timer and blow off valve). And I just wanted to get some general info, like do many of you use your rx\'s as your day to day car? And am I totally nuts for considering using mine as an everyday car given the amount of stories on this notice board relating to rx\'s requiring engine rebuilds etc...

I\'ve been speaking to plenty of insurance co\'s getting quotes for it and most (if not all) require a tracker...which tracker\'s have other people gone for? Any other advice on security including which CAT1 alarms are the best would be great.

Anyone who could give me a bit of advice on this will be a mate for life!

Cheers,

John-Paul

J4P RX

I used mine every day for a long time.  Im not anymore, but thats because it works out cheaper to drive something else with the fuel consumption.

In reality its probably saves nothing over the year due to the extra cost of a 2nd car, but at least I get a choice on what car to drive and when.

Cheers for that J4P RX. It\'s good to know that some people use their rx\'s on a daily basis.

Anyone got any advice on alarms and trackers?

My insurer didn\'t need a tracker for my Scooby, when I was looking to change to a FD they didn\'t request I had a Tracker either. CAT1 is vital, I have a Clifford Concept 300 on my FC and I also had that on the Scooby, does the job! I got my insurance through Basildon Insurance policy is with Axa.

BTW my Bridgeported FC is a daily driver at the mo! Although just for the next few months! I could do with a small oil field in my garden though!

John-Paul,

I\'ve got a 1990 convertible and it\'s a daily-use job. That said, I live close to work (eight miles each way), limited-mileage insurance, and we use the wife\'s car (diesel Astra, three times as many miles to the gallon) a lot more than mine. It can be done, but the RXs aren\'t cheap per-mile. (Fun, though :D )

Insurance was pretty straightforward for mine, but then I\'m a target customer: 34 years old, shedloads of no-claims, no speeding tickets even, live in a nice neighbourhood.
