Spalato

Hello folks!

My name is Matt (English version of my Croatian name)

I have been into rx-7 for a while now...bought my first FD while I lived in the states 10 years ago. Moved back to Croatia in 2007 and have been searching for a LHD FD for years until this summer I found one in Germany.

I\'m the proud second owner of a US spec 1993 SSM Touring with red interior. I bought the car from an older German lady who bought herself a new Porsche and no longer needed the FD...so I came along to give her some love and attention (not to the old lady, to the car :D )

Considering the car was owned by a mature woman for the last 20 years you can imagine it not being abused. Her original paint is in great condition and she has 120k miles...a bit in the high end, but to me shes perfect.

She is the second registered FD in my entire country out of a total of four, two do not have papers...and one out of those two is a race car...so you can imagine how confused people are when they see her on the street :) shes not a common sight

I was able to import her from Germany on the basis of being a rare/exotic car that will enhance the technical culture of the country, shes got a special status kind of like an old-timer car...

I have big plans for her...and I already have a ton of parts. But will be taking my time and doing everything step by step. I will keep you guys updated with photos of the progress.

When I bought her I immediately replaced the oil and filter, did a full silicone vacuum hose job, new spark plugs, 10mm Magnecor plug wires, K&N airbox filter, new Fuel Pressure Damper, cleaned the injectors, replaced the injector grommets and o-rings, installed a Blitz NUR Spec cat-back...

I have a hoarding addiction problem and nothing makes me more happy than buying used/new parts for her...some that I really don\'t need. I treat her better than than I treat my family members and close friends :D

Welcome to Mazdarotaryclub

I used to own a US spec FD and as you will know this is one very rare special car you have .

Keep us posted on what you do with the car :Thumbs-up

And most of all, enjoy:3gears-lh

Will do Clive, thanks!

Car looks great.  And I think you have some good mountain/coastal roads to drive her on?

I like the idea of an FD enhancing the country\'s technical culture, very true - how many other rotary sequential-twin-turbo cars are there around?

Has the engine been rebuilt?  120k miles on an original engine would be impressive, lady owner or not!

Have fun, and good luck looking after her - sounds like you know what you\'re doing.

Welcome! :WaveBye
Quite interesting to hear there are only 4 over there! Do you know if there are any FCs or even FBs?

Thanks!. Yeah we have great coastal windy roads that are accompanied with great scenery, during the off-season there is no tourists and they are super fun to drive on.

Yes the engine was rebuilt around 80k miles...its running strong now, even though I have a great condition spare 13b block in the garage which I will rebuild and replace when I have the time.

Yes there are a few FC\'s and SA/FB\'s but still very very rare to see one. I have a friend that has a NA FC. The rotary community is not big here but we do exist :D
