Hi,

So I have a 2004 231psi Rx8, What i was wondering is would I need a new head unit for a aux cable, If so what do most members recommend ?

As the indicator assembly and heater controls are incorperated in the head unit, probably your ony way forward would be a custom unit

( I know it says you have to check firmware) http://www.therpmstore.com/store/p/133-XCarLink-USB-MP3-Player-Integration-Kit-for-Mazda.html
Have you had any experiences with this?

If your firmware is the early one then these are fine, I\'ve had a similar one on mine for 5 years.  It\'s good.

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

Do people replace the head unit normally then? or just do the aux switch thing?

Replacing the head unit is a pain on UK cars because of the climate control being on a common loom and panel.  You can get a double din for it but it\'s expensive.

What sort of Audio are you looking to add via an Aux port?

it can be done but its very costly and you can lose some of the 8s systems i thought about it due to being given two double din units but the air con is an issue so have dropped the idea due the fix costing around £500 to £600
