MMM i think i may have made a costly mistake....... I have really confused myself as i thought AN-8 and Jic-8 where one and the same? but i have ordered all my fuel fittings then just noticed the place had two sections JIC and AN so i think i may have just wasted £300 :(

Can\'t you just tell i\'m not an Engineer, it was handy when my Old man was an Exec at BAE because i could get really good hoses ;) but i think i may have messed this up.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what the difference is and which one the US -8 is likely to be?

Cheers.

If they are different just use them for what you need them for. Then if you want to use AN you should be able to get adapters.

OR email the company you have bought them from and explain the situation, I\'m sure they will swap them like for like. Or ring them befor they get sent out

Grizzly

Yep, They are Different.......mmmm

Well for reference the JIC fittings are supposed to be 40% stronger and should be used for Fuel lines :(

I don\'t think its a big drama i\'ll just send them back, just wanted to get my fuel system put together :(  PITA

It\'s AN fittings which are stronger, they are aircraft quality.
JIC is just industrial quality, still very strong and fine for automotive purposes.
Loads of places advertise as AN but there not properly certified as such.

Is it? I thought the JIC had finer threads? i know there both 37deg.

I should have paid more attention the last time i had any pipes made up :(

Definately mate, the threads on the proper AN stuff is to a much higher tolerance and a slightly different angle.
When I went to a local Pirtek to get a hose made I asked for AN and he looked at me like I was daft, I don\'t think he even new what it was, after explaining what I wanted he said it was JIC 7/16, for AN4.
