Am planning to steam clean my engine bay as the shows for this session is about to start again, its a steam cleaner with just only water, would want to know if its safe and if so what r the parts should i wrap over?

I\'ve done it before....I\'ve always let everything dry off first before starting the car though...that way less likely to have any shorts/arcs etc

As above....

I sometimes carefully pressure wash the bay in other cars to clean.. Just leave to dry for abit

I use pressure washer too, my cars still running.... thats usually a good sign isnt it???

I would cover alternator, maybe be careful on spark plug side (for coils etc..)

As above, pressure washer is what I normally use and then I leave it all to dry before I start the car. Disconnect the battery as well of course. Just take a little care to be sure you don\'t blow off any connections (ignition leads for example) with the pressure washer.

I used to do it with a running engine so the heat would help dry out etc....i don\'t anymore ruined a dizzy and spent a track day in pits diagnosing intermittent fault. ...now i used wd40 and rags!

use brake and clutch cleaner on a cold not running engine and leave the stuff to dry for about 20 mins before restarting, the oil and grease will just dissapear

Brake fluid soaked on a rag...just disappears...saved my bacon from the missus a few times! ...then wash the brake fluid out!
