i spoke to carl at hayward about this and he said there is a of kevlar chassis brace you need to remove from the front of an fd to fit a fmic and that kinda put me off that

Your going to get alot more efficient cooling with a front mount iintercooler so your intake charge temps will be lower ( abit like car feeling quicker on a cold day as air in denser)....but anything is better than the standard IC. I fitted a huge ebay jobbie along with a 50mm alloy rad last summer....It was a complete sod and yes i had to lose brace but no heat soak suffered yet! I had to cut front bumper and took several trims to get a snug fit. Its a 2 man job ideally so you can offer up and stand back...make adjustments....and of course removing bumper and refitting. It took me 2 solid days. My front bumper was self tappered on from wings .....some previous repair so lights etc came out to get bumper off.......! Worth it in end and glad i done it myself.

I\'m in the same position myself and have also been having a chat with Carl about my upgrade path.

Some choice words came out when he told me how much it was for the V-Mount setup including the fitting and battery relocation! To me it makes sense to have a V-Mount, I just cant warrant the spendage at the moment.

I\'m just trying to work out if you have to relocate the battery for a FMIC setup and where my twin filters will sit.

The brace that gets removed is so fragile I really wouldn\'t worry about it... Also if you can do it yourself... Do it.

I made my own v mount setup and moved my own battery... Cost me about 300-400 quid! Going to a garage will cost a lot more, but it\'s not hard work to do! I made my own brackets for the rad and the inter cooler out of some flat bar I had, the inter cooler I got just a generic one and I\'m massively happy with it!!

There are companies that make off the shelf kits which are also a bit cheaper than some garages charge....

Battery wise I went down the scrappy and got the battery lead from a e36 bmw and put that in ! passed through bulkhead where the Ac pipes go through, simple bracket made from alloy chequer plate....easy. Small 063 battery light weight and cheap.

Do the rad at same time , the IC ebay kit £250.00 is the same as the Japspeed Kit and basically a copy of the greddy kit.....but cheaper...by a long way! Comes with silicone joiners and hard pipes , only thing i changed is jubilee clips to beefier 1\'s.  Mine was only a sod as previous repair saw someone use self tappers to screw wings to front bumper so i had to remove lights etc. Cant remember where i got rad from ...think trade stand at Japfest last year. Bout £60.00 £15.00 coolant. If you handy with the spanners you\'ll be fine.

That would probably be the Radtec V mount system that Carl helped develop, chose 2 of the following 3: Cheap, High performance, Reliable

Both the IC and the Radiator are made of alloy, welds are beautiful in the car from last summer no leaks, fitting kit was tacky and no instructions but you can re-engineer those like binning the hose clamps as the first one just stripped so bought proper jubilees. My set up was cheap but it works and far superior to standard IC and my rad and condensor was knackered.....didn\'t want(read cant afford) a divorce by spending 1500 on a branded system. Its up to you really but anything is better than the standard IC. I know ebay sells :censored::censored::censored::censored:e I\'ve bought my fair share in the past...LOL but these 2 item work on my car and dont cost the earth.....in my eyes there proven on a near standard car.

front mount is good for drifting as the air passes the front of the car more which the v-mount would miss,v-mount keeps temps lower in a straight line or on the track,
