My insurance is up for renewal in five days so I thought I\'d leave insuring it for a month or so, take it off the road and do a few jobs.

Thought I\'d save a month, get all this bits done.

But I can\'t can I.
Doesn\'t the DVLA say if it\'s taxed it has to be insured.

The tax doesn\'t run out til June and I can\'t be bothered putting it on SORN
sending the tax disc in etc.

Any other way round this.

I know it\'s supposed to stop the uninsured drivers but what a pain
I started with nothing and I have most of it left

grinder

ohh its a pain !!

i got a letter from the DVLA & MID people saying that cause it wasnt insured , it shouldnt be taxed , i had to cash in the tax or i could face a £1000 fine

its a JOKE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

i put a thread up about it only about 3 weeks back

i even phoned them and told them to keep the cash , but ohhhh not - you have to either sorn it or insure it :(

As far as I know, you can just SORN it, you don\'t have to claim the tax back, but you must retax it from the point you put it back on the road.
