Basically I\'ve got the chance of an egi that has been dry stored in a garage for the last 7-8 years the car is in great condition.

Now it\'s not been starte in the time it has been stored will the engine be dead ??

I thought about removing the plugs and squirting a little wd-40 and some two stroke in there and turning the engine over by hand for a while I\'ll also drain the sump of oil and refill with fresh stuff

Also I\'ll have too drain the tank and fill with some fresh fuel

Connect a new battery up and give it a go

Is it worth it or are there other things too consider

My main question is it worth

m1tch

Was the engine properly shut down before storage ie brought up to temperature and then shutdown or was it driven a short distance and then just shutdown with neat fuel in the engine? If it wasn\'t shut down correctly the fuel would have been sitting there eating the water seals...

I have no idea mate I guess I\'ll just have too try it under the owners k pledge that if it\'s not running correctly then I wont be purchasing the car if he will let me that is

Hummm im not sure to be honest

i suppose i would get the plugs out , stick 5mm of atf fluid in each hole , give it a few turn over by hand

see if its all nice and free

then remove the egi fuse , and crank it a bit ( stops it sparking and fueling )

then stick the plugs back in and see what happens ;)

if its cheap enough though and it didnt work , you could always break it for spares , or drop in another engine ?

If you can get it for bottom dollar then I wouldn\'t even try and get it going for the owner. Once its running the owner might want more money for it. Tow it home and then try and get it going.
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

I\'ve got a spare engine but it\'s from my old turbo 2 but I\'m keeping it for the silver car

And yeah I guess it\'s a case of suck it and see what happens

I only really fancyvthe car as it would be a nice daily instead of the mr2 I\'m running just now as the silver car is getting a respray and some serious custom stuff for the front suspension

As for breaking I just don\'t have the time Orr space with having four cars and still have the old White turbo 2
And as for swapping engines I don\'t have the will power just now as I\'m struggling for motivation with the silver fc just now let alone taking on another project lol basically if it runs ok it\'s going straight for a test and the brakes will get hammered on the way there too hopefully get them going good

Also is ATF a better idea than some 2 stroke and wd-40 lol and I\'ll use premix fuel for the first attempts at starting in the hope it will give a little extra protection since it\'s been sitting

Just crank the engine over if the oil level is ok with the plugs out and egi fuse removed for 30 seconds, then leave for a few seconds and do it again.
This will get oil pressure up and also let you hear if it sounds like it has some compression. If it does replace plugs and fuse and start it up.
Check coolant before starting too and once it runs keep an eye on the temp, if getting hot or coolant is not flowing through rad by its getting hot then shut down and check thermostat.
On first start up dont run it for a short time. Also if there is alot of steam coming out of exhaust dont be too concerned as often moisture builds in in exhausts when cars are left a long time and it might be that buring off and not water seals in the engine.
