I have an \'89 FC Egi which I thought would make it an S5 but I realised it has the black rimmed rear lights which I thought were only found on the S4 Egi and Turbo, is this right?

How else can I tell if the car is actually an S4 or S5?

I believe that all egi\'s come in s4 trim, my 1990 egi used to have s4 bumpers, lights, skirts etc. I\'m not sure there are many (if any) differences to the s4/5 egi n/a engine. The big differences are in the turbo models. The s4 turbo looks like an egi with a vented bonnet, it has a 13b turbo engine with smaller rotors, smaller turbo and probably a few other small bits. It produces around 170 BHP, the s5 has the turbo II bodykit, the twin circle rear lights, bigger rotors, a bigger turbo and produces 200 BHP.

But your question I think relates to the egi\'s only, so I\'ve only really listed the big differences. As far as I know the egi is the same spec from 1969-1990 and all have almost identical trim levels :)

The EGI models were sort of halfway between S4 and S5.  In the Uk we never got the S4 Turbo, so any that are here are S5\'s.  EGI\'s have some S5 spec parts and some S4 (like lights).

Thanks, that was the answer I was hoping for.
