Just picked up the last ever issue of redline mag. A few months ago it was max power now redline who`s next?
I always prefered this mag as it was more performance focused not like all the rubbish mags.
It seems nowadays its the mags that just focus on one brand of car rather than any fast car.

Yeah i liked redline too, stopped buying it when i moved here though just because they wanted €10 for it and i thought it was steap. Would have continued to buy it in the UK though.

Shame, was one of the best.

A friends car was in one of the very first editions of Max Power, it started of a decent mag, his car was a widebody, full original Alpina 6 series. I guess with anything the mass\'s dictated the market and it became a mag full of the usual rubbish you see parked at macdonalds on any given evening with the contents of halfrauds attached to it and also the last copy i bought (years & years ago) was literally just full of adverts (i know thats how they make their money).

I havent bought a mag for years, mostly anything i want to see can be found on the internet and really dont want to peruse through page after page of adds or cars that literally do nothing for me!

Is the internet/web the downfall of car mags?

turbo boy

Yes i think the internet has killed off the modified car mag but i also think that most modified car enthusiasts are above 25yrs old.
I grew up with these types of mags in the 90`s, but I think the worst era was the 00`s when you had saxos rolling on 20`s lambo`d up with 32inch plasmas in the back with neon lights everywhere lookin more like a ufo than a car!
One thing is tho and that is performance never goes out of fashion.

Problem is, that was probably the market place for the mag at the time!

I used to get Jap Performance and Banzai as it seemed to fit my criteria of reading! But then i got bored of just about every issue having a Imprezza, Skyline and or Evo in it and it seemed just like Max Power, more and more adverts! The launch editions always packed with decent cars, decent features, decent technicals and then as time goes by and probably to meet ever more demanding targets, pages that were once good reading became advertising hording for the mass market!

True that. Now i ONLY buy a mag if an rx7 is init like nov issue of jap performance.
