Just a quick question.  A mate of mine reckins the RX-7 3rd geb loses about 50bhp through the drivetrain.  Is this true?!?  I didnt think it could be that much on a REX?  :eek:

J4P RX

Sounds about right.

Is that around 50bhp whatever power your running?

How much more power does a similar powered 4WD car lose, like a scooby?

GaryS

Depending upon who you talk to, it is between 17 and 18% of flywheel power.

MintyFresh

is that for the 4WD, or RWD?

Brett

Every car regardless of drive type looses power through several areas;

 Drive train (As previously posted anything upto 20%, obviously this changes on the drive type, and with 4wd the bias level)

 Ancillaries, anything that is taking its drive directly from the engine. (So thats Power steering, aircon, load on the alternator when ur using the windows/heaters/stereo/etc and belt driven fans and air pumps)

 Add all this together and you should be pleased that its only 50hp your losing!
