consider that you have a turbo engine, the oil is very stressed out by the turbine, the 5w30 for me is too low viscosity :)

Mazda recommends that only mineral oil be used in rotary engines. Any half decent 10 - 40 mineral oil will be fine. I use millers oils as they are a local supplier to me and do the stuff at a decent price.

gonzodave

So if i go for a 10w 40 mineral oil of any good reputable brand i should be ok, if so i will order some today and get the service done this weekend

Grant Monkhouse

Yep...... And change your oil filter whilst your at it:Thumbsup!:Thumbsup!

tbh, i think most modern fully-synths are ok to use these days. there was a great post by the guy who runs Opie Oils talking about all of that, might be worth digging it up.

This is the thread with links to why Mazda recommend mineral oil only

However TBH if your car originally has mineral oil in it, stick with it, if you have used synthetic oil for some time then stick with that.

I do think it is fine to use synthetic oils for use as premix, better lubrication for the seals and it\'s doesn\'t smoke as much

gonzodave

Cheers for that i will check link out and give it a read .

Wow I never knew the oil debate was so intense !!! I have used the 5w30 dexelia oil for the past 2 yrs and have been recommended to use it before, and i guess that if its an oil sold by mazda for the rotary engine then it should be pretty good stuff, but I could be wrong.

gonzodave

Right i now have, ngk 9\'s x4, magnecor kv85,fuel filter, oil filter and valvoline 10w40 mineral oil which is recommended by jimmys and many other rotary builders that i found on the net. hope to fit this little lot at the weekend.

Grant Monkhouse

Well done, hopefully it will give your car a new lease of life

gonzodave

I have yet to look but are the stock leads all different in length as are the kv85\'s, just a thought on getting them back in the same order ?
Cheers Dave.

I do have a bit of a splutter when the second turbo kicks in at the moment which is being a little intermittent, hoping that changing the plugs and leads will cure problem, if it doesnt would I have to start looking to changing the coils ???

StreetracerHCI

If you still have problems, then you must change the coils, to exclude  problems that can come from Spurk plugs and Wires or Coil.
are maintenance, should be changed even if you did not have problems :)
