Just need to change the oil now on my 13B single.

Mineral better than semi synth then? :)

Lol the oil debate continues :)

I use Semi-synth, always have always will and the car has been used with semi since 1994, even the Mazda dealer it was bought from used semi-synth in it ( i have the full service history)...

Now gone single turbo, still using OMP and still using Semi Synth but i also use 400:1 ratio 2 stroke mix....

When i took the engine apart after 70K miles on the original engine, there was carbon build up but nowhere near the amount i was expecting and certainly nowhere near as much as an equivalent mileage piston engine that i\'ve had apart...

Quote from: Mir;786026Graeme, if I am not mistaken, that engine was using OMP isn\'t it? Because I vaguely remember reading somewhere that it was perfectly fine to use Fully Synthetic Oil, if the OMP was blocked off? Correct me if I am wrong please.

If memory serves it indeed was Syed matey, but don\'t quote me on it. I was more concerned on the state of it!!

IIRC the issues with using synthetic are centred on the fact that it doesn\'t burn as readily as mineral as it can withstand a higher temperature. Instead it thermally degrades and cokes stuff up.

Surely whether it entered the engine from the OMP or the fuel tank would make no difference as it still goes in? Or am i getting the wrong end of a stick here?
