alright guys.

after having the car put in my friends garge for a few months to be checked over as 2nd turbo was not kicking in... well its all sorted now... had to change all vacum hose , some sensors and fix a few wiring problems issue...

well i dont drive the car much at all... cos its just a weekend car for me to drive... but today i took the oil cap off to look at it and found it was BONE dry with a tint of brown colour on it... i am pretty sure thats not right ... please can someone tell me what is the problem...

the oil level is just above half at the moment on the dipstick so i was gonna change the oil and oil filter.. but bear in mind the oil has only done less than 600 miles... im a bit of a freak on my oil...

but please can someone share some light to me ..

Hi, Not sure what you were expecting ?

My oil cap (Mazdaspeed) is dry on the inside.

I assumed this was normal....but maybe someone with a little more knowledge will be along to advise.

there\'s no reason why an oil cap SHOULD be wet. If the cap is being touched by oil there is too much in and some is trying to get out as it expands.

Mine occasionally looks a bit slick but i assume that is from condensation from the air that gets in when you open it up.

As long as the oil is nice and clear, and the dipstick shows somewhere between MAX and MIN i really wouldn\'t be too concerned with it.

I agree with Graeme, ive checked my oil cap and there is no sign of oil except a small amount of condensation from the air that gets in when you open it up and being a metal oil cap this shows,  i queried this not so long back and was told it was normal.. but as Graeme says check your oil..try not to be like me and get over paranoid because its a rotary engine you might be worrying for nothing ;)

In my opinion, its a good sign that you have a dry oil cap. Every rotary engine comes with a breather function and if there is an air in the engine or the compression is lost from the side seals, it tends to come out from the breather pipe (also bring some engine oil with it) hence, there is no reason for the oil to make its way through the oil cap making it wet.

In nutshell, dont worry! its fine :)

ahh boy...

Ok, first of all, The turbo work that you did,.. did you remove the turbos to do it? Because as you know, you can lose oil that way. If you had the car up on a jack stand, with just the front up, more than likely you drained some oil out of the oil cooler system too.

So before I continue, can you answer the above :)

rust

first things first, thank you for everyone to who took part of telling me its nothing and dont worrie :) im feeling much more lighten up now..

i check the oil every time before i drive it to make sure to be safe... its clear and looks new so thats is another things im happy with... but i do think my filters need changing as there dirty and old.. so i will get round to that.

Indian - when i had the work done i had it on a ramp to work out so i guess the oil was okay... but im pretty sure its just me use to looking at a engine with Piston... me just pulling my own hair for nothing haha...

cheers guys.
