Hi guys, I\'ve got a headlight that won\'t budge..

I\'ve pulled the retractor fuse as it was flattening the battery and tried the manual winding mechanism at the bottom of the headlight (works fine on the passenger side, but the driver side isn\'t having any of it).

I\'ve had a quick check and I don\'t believe there\'s anything in the way.

Anything else I can try?

Thanks :Thumbs-up

Firstly hi and welcome to the forum :D Get some photos up :)

Perhaps the headlight motor is still getting power from a short somewhere? If it was getting a live feed it would stay up even without the fuse etc.

Have you left the fuse out for a while or just taken it out?

I have just found some info on FC3S pro:

Do you still have both the boots intact?

Hi, thanks

I think it is getting power - leaving the fuse in I can hear the relay clicking and buzzing.

Boots are missing too, which probably hasn\'t helped.

It\'s stuck in the down position, I guess there\'s no way to pop it up permanently as a temporary fix other than with the manual screw. Looks like a new retractor motor is on the shopping list!

Be very careful when getting your fingers near the motor and working, I would suggest disconnecting the battery.

Also check this thread which has interchangable parts for the FC, it seems that the 323F BG has the same motors:

It\'s possible the mechanism is jammed - either wiring caught in it, or the lever mechanism is bent or slipped somehow.

You can normally free them by winding the motor and CAREFULLY levering up the light unit - use something non metal in case it slips - till you can get a finger or two on it.

What ever you do - make sure the retractor fuse is out before manually winding - if it was left in then suddenly decided to go, it will strip skin of your fingers faster than a piranha !

I would suggest disconnecting the battery incase its got a live somewhere anyhow, then maunally wind/poke it a bit until you can see if anything is trapped :)
