What\'s your views on this? Do the job or not worth it? Its been recommended to be but thought I\'d get some opinions first

I\'d be more inclined to go with full syn gear oil or syn engine oil as a second choice, low viscosity like auto fluid but with the friction modifiers to cope with the shear forces at the point of contact on the teeth. Auto fluids are by there nature designed to give better heat management but are not required to cope with the contact pressures that exist between spur cut gears.
