See here for some details on the proposed launch of the Mazda RX-9

Japanese insiders say it is most likely to power a two-door coupe built in the image of the most recent RX-7, the highly regarded version championed by the legendary “Koby” Kobayakawa, which went out of production in 2002.

Sounds like another article with poor research.

Mazda released a statement last year saying they where about a year behind on the development of the 16x engine however this says they are ahead.

Also i was not aware out RX8\'s packed a 2.6l lump under the hood... (unless you believe your logbook)

still a nice find
Turbocharged 192ps RX-8 running Meth Injection on an Adaptronic
Fully Bridgeported 231ps RX-8 stripped for the Track
2nd Gen RX-7 TurboII on a GT35r (show winner)

Interesting read. I do hope Mazda continue with the rotary engine and come up with an \'rx9\' but with the way the world economy is at present and with ever increasing emission standards it does seem to be getting harder for them to release something worth while thats going to sporty, environmental and cost effective and be able to compete with other abnormal engines
