Hi All, not sure if this the right place for this thread, but having posted many regarding wheels and offsets here I\'ll give it a try.

Well, finally got the arches rolled today :D and finally got out on the open road for the first time since fitting the new wheels:D:D.

The car drives great and seems to handle sharper, but...... for some reason there is a lot of noise coming from the front of the car (typical wheel bearing humming that increases with speed). It feels and sounds like the wheel bearings are completely buggered.

Would the extra offset and width of the new 17x9.5 et35 wheels show such a weakness in bearings that felt fine before with the 18x8 et 50 wheels.
I have checked clearance (yep it is that loud) and no issues there.
Could this be the bearings or could the tyres on these wheels make excessive noise?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I don\'t really want to shell out £165 a side on bearings if that\'s not the problem

Typical as I had my eye out for some second hand coilovers to drop this sucka that I can\'t afford if the bearings are shot:(

Thanks guys

What tyres do you have ? i found i had the same problem but traced it down to the tyres , i had toyo t888.

Tyres are Bridgestone Potenza RE01\'s. The tyres are part worn, but still have loads of tread left and the wheels seem to be balanced fine.

Unfortunately it feels more like dodgy bearings as I can feel the rumble through the steering wheel at all speeds, but about 20-30mph when at it\'s worst I can just feel it through the brake peddle when slowing down.
I have ordered a new pair of rear tyres (different brand) so will put these on the front and see if the problem persists
With luck it\'s just the tyres, but feels more metalic if that makes sense and deffo not a wheel balance issue.
I\'m assuming front wheel bearings are fairly easy to replace compared to the rears should it be worst case.
Looking forward to tuning the car rather than fire fighting problems that keep coming up:rolleyes:

Well first thing I would do is jack each front wheel up. The feel for play side to side and top to bottom (holding the wheel). That should give you an indication if its a bearing and which side. Can you nip up the front wheel bearings on the FD like you can on the FC? If you can it might just save you some money in the short term.

I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)
