whats the tool that clips into the ht lead and onto a spark plug to test for spark
is their a proper name (spark tester)thing

^^this, pull the lead + plug, hold with a pair of shielded pliers and look for spark! :D

You can use a timing gun to see spark activity - these have a clamp transformer that clamps onto the HT lead.
 
You can also get the transformer on it\'s own with banana plugs to use with a multimeter or hand held scope.
 
I think Sealy and others also do a full standalone ignition tester unit
